GPS issues, poor signal, and incorrectly recorded activity
Why may my activity have been recorded incorrectly?
When you record an activity, your phone uses GPS to track your route, distance, and workout progress. Sometimes, the GPS signal may be inaccurate or temporarily lost. This is a normal technical issue and can happen even when the app is working correctly.
From a data perspective, this may look as if you suddenly "jumped" from one location to another. This can appear like a teleport in the activity data. In practice, it usually means that your phone briefly detected an inaccurate location or recovered the GPS signal after a short interruption.
GPS issues may affect:
- your route,
- calculated distance,
- pace or speed,
- activity duration,
- activity points,
- challenge completion.
When do GPS issues usually happen?
GPS may be less accurate when you:
- exercise in a forest, mountains, or areas with many trees,
- are surrounded by tall buildings,
- are in a tunnel, garage, basement, or indoors,
- have poor mobile signal,
- allow the app to be restricted in the background,
- use battery-saving mode,
- have system settings that limit background app activity,
- start the activity before your phone has found an accurate location.
What can help?
Before starting an activity, check your phone settings.
1. Enable location access
Make sure Move Republic has access to your location.
Recommended settings:
- location access: always or while using the app,
- precise location: enabled,
- GPS / location services: enabled.
2. Turn off battery-saving mode
Battery-saving mode may limit GPS or background activity tracking.
Before your workout, we recommend that you:
- turn off battery-saving mode,
- check that Move Republic is not restricted by battery settings,
- keep the app open during the activity.
3. Start your activity outdoors
If possible, start your activity in a place with a good GPS signal, such as outside and away from tall buildings.
It may help to wait a moment after starting the activity so your phone can detect your location more accurately.
4. Do not block the app in the background
Do not manually close the app during your activity. If your phone limits the app in the background, the activity recording may be less accurate.
Can an activity be corrected manually or can points be added?
The Customer Agent cannot manually edit activities, correct workouts, or add points.
If you believe your activity was recorded incorrectly because of GPS issues, poor signal, or interrupted location tracking, our support team needs to review the case.
We cannot guarantee in advance that an activity will be corrected or that points will be added. Each case must be reviewed individually based on the activity data.
How can I report the issue?
Contact us via the in-app chat and briefly describe what happened.
Please include, if possible:
- which activity the issue concerns,
- when the activity was recorded,
- whether the issue is related to GPS, distance, points, or a challenge,
- whether you had poor signal during the activity,
- optionally: a screenshot of the activity.
Our support team will review your case and reply in the chat within 3 business days.
